1. What Information Does GMAC Insurance Collect About Me?

We collect information about you such as your name; your telephone number; your social security number; your mailing address; the type vehicles you own; health care information if you are in an accident; and your driving history.

This information comes from sources such as:

• Your quote form, application and other insurance forms;
• Your transactions with us, our affiliates, or others;
• Outside sources such as:
  • state motor vehicle departments and loss reporting agencies (which provide a record of your driving and accident history);
  • credit reporting agencies; and
  • health care providers in the event you are injured in an accident

The information you provide us may be used for such purposes as:

• to respond to your requests for information and service, (such as to provide you the right price for our products and services, and to process your claims);
• to customize and improve products and services;
• to improve communication content; and
• for GMAC Insurance marketing research

3. Who Might Get Information About Me From GMAC Insurance?

We may share your personal information only as permitted or required by law. 

We do not sell customer information.

Affiliates

We may share the information that we collect about you, except your health information, within the GMAC Insurance family of companies and with other GM/GMAC companies for purposes such as:

• to measure your interest in other GM/GMAC products and services; and
• to offer you other GM/GMAC Family Products that may suit your needs (such as GM motor vehicles, GMAC financial services and OnStar).

Some of our web sites may use “cookies” and other tracking devices.  A cookie is an element of data that a web site can send to your browser.  The browser may then store the cookie on your hard drive.  The goal is to save you time and give you a more meaningful visit to our web site.

When you visit one of the GMAC Insurance web sites, we may collect and store information about your visit through “cookies” and other tracking devices. 5. What Choice Do I Have About Sharing My Information?

Prior to your becoming a GMAC Insurance customer, GMAC Insurance may share your information with our service providers solely to perform services for us and with our affiliates.

When you become our customer, GMAC Insurance may share your information within the GM/GMAC family of companies and with GMAC Insurance business partners under joint marketing programs, unless you tell us not to. Once you become a customer, you will receive a Privacy Notice from us entitled-“Important Information About Your Privacy” that will instruct you on how to make this choice.

You should know, though, directing us not to share your information may mean you will no longer receive notice about products or services that may be of interest to you and will limit the ability of our insurance companies to meet your current product and service needs.

Generally, you may review your information contained in our records upon request. You may also request that we correct, change or delete any incorrect information. If you believe your information is incorrect, please notify us by using one of the methods listed below. We will review your request and respond to you.

There is some information we cannot share with you. This information is usually collected when we review a claim or when there is a chance of a lawsuit.
